Announcement of Pioneer Unit

The Digital India Fund incubated India's first fully integrated new media platform that can be ported onto existing cable networks in January 2014. The USD 3 Billion initiative aims to transform digital cable networks into IP broadcast networks with satellite and fiber backhaul to provide basic broadband connectivity nationally within 24 months. The platform is based in the indigenous HDVSL standard and delivers end to end digital NGN like connectivity with extremely low cost terminals to smart phones and flat panel television sets. The platform is device OS agnostic and delivers a cloud hosted service capable of television, low cost telephony and high speed internet on any device through the unlicensed spectrum. The connectivity to the last drop access points is provided by the coaxial network of cable operators.
